The 1961 "Skipper" In the 90's w/ wife, Sharon

After leaving RHS, Pete earned his BA at Canisius College in Buffalo in 1965. He then continued on to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, where he received a Masters degree in German Language and Literature in 1970. While at Johns Hopkins, Peter met and married Sharon Bedford in 1968. After getting his Masters degree, the US Army requested some of his time. He served as a Squadron Intelligence Officer in the 1st Infantry Division at the rank of Captain from 1970 through 1972. His military time was spent at Fort Riley, Kansas.

Peter and Sharon had their first son, Tobin, in 1972 and their second son, Benjamin, in 1979. Tobin currently works in the financial end of the movie industry in southern California rounding up the money necessary to get movies into production. Ben is a sophomore at Puget Sound University in Washington where he also plays football. Sharon is an industry analyst for media corporations.

Since 1972, Pete has held various positions with the Defense Language Institute (DLI), a part of our Defense Department, on both the East and West Coasts of the US. Recent assignments have had Peter being the Dean of the School of Germanic Languages from '85-'89, Dean of the School of Romance Languages from '89-'93, and Dean of the School of Asian Languages from 1993 to present. All of these assignments have been in Monterey, California.

While Peter has given up on the skiing that he used to do, he still enjoys hiking, photography, and gardening. He and Sharon enjoy traveling some, too. In 1998, they took a very interesting and educational trip to South America. They particularly enjoyed their stay in Peru.
