In September 2007, we finally decided to sell our house and use that equity to fund a year round the world trip.   We have been thinking about it and many factors led up to the final decision

  • Wayne's EER Package from HP

  • Susan's contact work ending

  • Loss of Jezzebelle

  • and the realization that if we didn't do it know, we probably wouldn't do it later.

  • Global warming,

  • etc

After some research, we decided to travel to South America.  There's enough to see there to keep us there for a year.  We also wanted to learn Spanish and what better way than to immerse yourself in it.  Yes, we know Portuguese is spoken in Brazil.

Australia and New Zealand were tempting to start with because of the language, the beaches but the costs made it more difficult thanks to the plummeting dollar.  Thanks George!  So its off to Buenos Aires in January.

I do not intend to tiptoe through life only to arrive safely at death.

To discover new waters, you have to lose site of the shore.

The person who never took a chance, never made a discovery

A journey is best measured in friends not miles.
