Kenyon Astrophysical Observatory
A number of topics have been studied at KAO.
PUBLICATIONS and AWARDS:
A paper was published in 1982 at the RTMC (pg 69-73 of the proceedings)
on the use of electonic speech synthesis for the telescope.
An article was published on astrophotography in Observer Magazine in the
Spring of 1983 titled "Photographing the Night Sky".
Merit Award at the 1984 RTMC for "Excellence in Electronic Design". A telescope drive corrector was demonstrated which had digital setting circles and PEC.
An article on electronic telescope control in the Observer magazine Spring 1984 titled "Talking to Your Telescope".
Telescope Design article appeared in Sky and Telescope magazine in
September 1985 detailing the 17.5" f4.5 telescope used at KAO.
A paper was presented at the 1996 RTMC on CCD imaging methodology titled "Successful CCD Imaging" this was the keynote paper of the confrence.
Presented the "Beginners Forum" module on CCD's and imaging at RTMC-AE in
1996, '97, '98, '99, 2001, '02, '03, '04, '05, '06.
Was the opening presenter at "Imaging The Sky '97" in Oregon, October '97. The topic was Methods, Techniques and Best Practices for Successful CCD Imaging.
Was the opening presenter at "International Amateur-Professional Photoelectric Photometry Conference" in Southern California, May '99.
The topic was CCD Imaging: Process and Techniques.
Presented a paper at "International Amateur-Professional Photoelectric
Photometry Conference" in Southern California, May '00.
The topic was An Introduction to Spectroscopy.
Was the workshop presenter at "Imaging The Sky 2K" in Oregon, November '00. The topic was Methods, Techniques and Best Practices for Successful CCD Imaging. Presented a paper on CCD spectroscopy as well.

Conducted a workshop at "International Amateur-Professional Photoelectric Photometry Conference" in Southern California, May '01.
The topic was Practical Photometry with CCD's. Based on the book by Teare and Kenyon (described above).
Lead the "Science With Your Telescope" workshop at RTMC-AE May '01.
Was the workshop presenter at "Imaging The Sky 2001" in Oregon, November '01. The topic was Methods, Techniques and Best Practices for Successful CCD Imaging.

The topic was on the design, development and construction of a robotic observatory.
Was the workshop presenter at "Imaging The Sky 2002" in Oregon, November '02. The topic was Photometry with CCD Imagers.

Presented a paper on "A Unique Roll-Off Roof Observatory" at RTMC-AE in Southern California, May '03.
The topic was on the design, development and construction of a roll-off roof observatory.
"Society For Astronomical Science '04, '05, '06, '07 ". One of the Proceedings Editors published by the Society for Astronomical Sciences, (available from the SAS).
Presented a paper on "The Fireball Network" at the SAS Symposium in Southern California, May '05.
The topic was the study of meteor imaging with an "All Sky Camera".Click Fire Ball Camera.
RESEARCH and SCIENCE:
International Halley Watch submissions of almost 100 images of the comet
(1984-86).
Deep sky photography for Sierra Collage (Northern California) astronomy
program (1982 to now and ongoing).
